To perform rites and rituals without divine knowledge amounts to labor without knowing the master (it is done for);
As one proceeds in the opposite direction the destination becomes more and more distant.
Mere utterance of the word 'bread' amounts to increasing one's appetite only;
Mere image of the beloved in thoughts, amounts to suffering the pangs of separation.
To show love without having seen the beloved is only a craze;
Avtar says, only the True Master unveils the splendid face (of God).

Meaning
Only the True Master reveals the loveable face (God). To perform religious acts & rituals without God Knowledge is fruitless labor without Master and like a journey opposite to the destination which adds to the distance in knowing God. Repeated saying of the word 'Bread' will increase one's appetite only; Mere image of the beloved in thoughts will lead to dying in separation. To shower love without having seen the beloved is only a craze. Following the True Master disclosure one can see the loveable face i.e. God.
